What I used was a combo of:
Yamaha MW10 USB mixer and Audix f50 Dynamic Microphone

Honestly, I think it might be more a matter of effects (dynamic eq, and parametric equalizer and are my favorites from cool edit...add a teeny bit of reverb, and maybe a small SMALL bit of some kind of delay effect) I tend to just experiment with those 4 things in different orders, sometimes compressing the reverb gives a nice sound to it.

But otherwise, I think even something like a snowball mic should do the trick. From what i've heard they sound just as good as what i've got.

The quality on this mp3 is a bit shoddy as i actually retrieved it form zippyaudio (or some site that has random mp3s from the internet) as i've lost most of my old tunes from a formatted hardrive LOL!
